Job Title: Studio Manager – Pottery Painting Studio

About Us
Peacock Pottery Barn is a vibrant, hands-on pottery painting studio where creativity meets community. We specialise in helping guests of all ages create lasting memories - whether it’s painting pottery, taking baby handprints, or customising special keepsakes. We're currently seeking a dedicated and artistic Part-Time Studio Manager to lead our team and bring energy, organisation, and creativity to the studio three days per week.

Job Summary
As one of our Studio Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the studio on your scheduled days. This includes managing staff, supporting customers, maintaining inventory, keeping the studio clean and tidy, providing artistic services such as baby handprints in clay and paint, and neat handwriting on ceramics. You’ll create a welcoming environment for guests and ensure everything runs smoothly during your shifts.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Artistic Services

Greet and guide customers through the pottery painting process

Take baby and toddler handprints in clay (impressions) and paint (on pottery), ensuring gentle, safe handling and high-quality results

Perform neat handwriting - adding names, messages, or dates to pottery items with neat, legible script

Assist with custom orders and memory-making keepsakes

Handle customer pottery pieces with care and pack finished orders safely for pickup

Studio Operations

Open and close the studio on your working days

Ensure safe handling of all ceramics, especially fragile or personalised items

Manage e-mails, answer phones and take and manage bookings using our computerised booking system

Handle customer orders and take payments using computerised till systems

Keep the studio clean, well-organized, and compliant with safety protocols
Team Support

Supervise and support staff during shifts

Train new employees on studio procedures and artistic techniques (including handprints and handwriting)

Lead with a positive, hands-on attitude

Customer Engagement & Events

Promote studio offerings and upsell custom services

Help maintain studio displays, signage, and product samples

Qualifications
-
Previous experience in a customer service or studio environment; leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Ability to multitask in a busy, hands-on environment

Interest or experience in arts & crafts (pottery experience a bonus)

Comfortable with baby handprints in clay and paint (or willing to learn through training)

Strong, legible handwriting is a must

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently

Available to work occasional weekends or evenings
